Pastoral Care

Pastoral care in the Methodist Church was established over 300 years ago
when John and Charles Wesley created a system called “Classes” whereby all
the members were placed into small groups for mutual support and
fellowship; this system has continued till the present day.

When you become a member of Spondon Methodist Church both you and your
family will be allocated to one of our Pastoral visitors who’s role it is
to pray regularly for those in their care, to share in their joys, and to
give comfort and support in time of sorrow and need.”

Those people who are regular attenders but are not yet members are also
allocated to a pastoral visitor and they too receive support and prayer.
